New Page 1Q) Describe your character on "Cult."
A) I play Skyee Yarrow, she's a research assistant on the fictional show "Cult." She comes from a journalist father so I think she's very inquisitive by nature. She starts to notice that weird things are happening on the show and wants more answers about these fans and their obsession with the show. Jeff (Matt Davis) comes along and his brother, who is a fan of the show, has gone missing. I think she uses him as a way to confirm her suspicions.
Q) A lot of people are kind of confused by the premise for the show. Did you get it straight away?
A) I think it's easier to understand when you watch it. It's very hard to explain. I don't find it confusing when it's put in front of you. And, to be honest, for shows like this that are mystery based and suspenseful that the more complex they are, the better they are. There are so many layers to this show, so many characters and directions to follow that it's a good thing.
Q) Will the fact that Skye works for the show hinder Jeff's search for his brother?
A) I think, if anything, it will be a help since I sort of have unlimited resources in being able to help him on his search.
Q) Will there be romantic entanglements between you and Jeff?
A) I assume so. I think the idea is to play that out for a while. I don't know if there ever are plans for us to actually come together, but I assume that's where they are headed.
Q) Does Skye working for the show leave open for the chance that she may be an inside spy?
A) I don't know. I know very little, obviously, about where they plan to go. I know she comes off ambiguous in the pilot, but I am not really sure her motivations. I guess she could go either way. And that's really exciting for me to play as an actress because I don't know.
Q) With all the mysteries on the show, when you're reading it, do they explain them to you?
A) I find it just as interesting. I haven't asked Rockne [O'Bannon] because there are only certain things I'm supposed to know as an actress to be able to do my job. I just leave that up to him and deal with what is given to me.
Q) How much are we going to learn in season one about Billy Grimm?
A) I don't know, as much as possible. I am actually really curious to know what it is about the show that has everyone so obsessed and why it's so enigmatic. I think there has to be something deeper to that. I think the show is probably a front for something else.
Q) Are there any shows you've been obsessed with?
A) I was a huge "Lost" fan. I watched every episode. I was on the edge of my seat. I loved it!
Q) How many scripts of "Cult" have you gotten so far?
A) We've done the pilot and nothing else. We start shooting more in about a week. So, hopefully, I'll see a first draft soon-ish.
Q) How much do they tell you when you first sign up for a show like this?
A) Nothing. When I read the script, I just thought it was really interesting and unique. It was nothing like anything I'd seen before. I had no idea if it would work or come together, but that was exciting. You want something challenging. You either go big or you go home.
