New Page 1Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?
A) The project I'm currently working on is a show called "Hollywood Heights" and then last summer I did a movie called The Man Who Shook The Hand of Vincente Fernandez with Ernest Borgnine.
Q) Please tell us the premise for the show "Hollywood Heights" and about your character Melissa Sanders.
A) It's a show about a high school student named Loren (Brittany Underwood) who is extremely talented and soulful, but doesn't believe in herself. She's a singer and a song writer who has this amazing package that she just doesn't see. I play her best friend and I push her to be the person she becomes. It's about her realizing her potential and winning this song writing contest where she gets to meet her idol, Eddie Duran, played by Cody Longo. Through this, she gets into the music business and her life takes off from there. It's a dream come true story for a high school student who has high ambitions, but doesn't know how to accomplish them.
Q) What made you want to be a part of the show?
A) It was the idea that there was this girl who had such an amazing goal that she doesn't think she can reach, but does. That idea of reaching your dream and having them come true was exhilarating to me. To be able to play the character that encouraged that and drove it forward was pretty exciting to me.
Q) What have you found challenging about your role?
A) There are so many things! Melissa is the kind of person where life is a big bowl of candy and she sees potential in everything and everyone. She has such drive, focus and ambition when it comes to herself and everyone around her that she almost has blinders on. For myself, I'm a little different because bit more practical than her. It's really fun to play a character who goes for the gusto and doesn't back down because they get rejected a few times. It's really, really fun to be someone who is so ostentatious.
Q) Was there instant chemistry when you began working with the cast or did it take some time to develop?
A) When I tested for the show with Brittany, we immediately had chemistry. This isn't one of those stories where you pretend you got along great. We really did! We started talking and bonded over hamburgers. We've been shooting for a few month and we're very good friends. The rest of the cast is amazing! Meredith Salenger, who plays my mother, I have amazing chemistry with her and with the guy who plays my brother, Robert Adamson. We have great family chemistry.
Q) What have been your favorite moments from filming the show?
A) We filmed a concert for Eddie Duran at The Avalon. That was probably one of the most fun things to shoot. We actually got to film at The Avalon. We did a night shoot and those are always pretty magical. In general, working with the people that play my family members is amazing because we have so much chemistry. Every scene I get to do with all of them is rare, but a gift!
Q) Why will people want to take their time to watch "Hollywood Heights?"
A) Besides the incredible cast and the immediate effect of seeing a rock star and a girl in high school that loves him - it stirs emotions. Beyond that, it's a heartwarming story. All of these characters are really well written and really well played. There is so much substance and heart to this story that anyone can relate, especially to Lauren who doesn't really realize her potential. We don't always realize our potential so it's great to see someone achieving that and living vicariously through them.
Q) You were on the hit ABC Family show "Huge." Do you keep in touch with any of your former costars?
A) Harvey Guillen, who played my brother Alistair, I talk to all the time. He is one of my best friends. Also, I got to see Hayley Hasselhoff recently. It's been a while since we'd seen each other. The cast is always going to be my friends. I almost feel like I did "Huge" partly to know those people because they had such a profound influence in my life that I love them so much.
Q) Where can people go online to learn more about you?
A) I don't have a website, but you can Google me. Also, if you go to Nick At Nite's website.
Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?
A) Thank you so much for supporting me and watching things that I do. I love my job and I'm very grateful for it. I'm very grateful for the opportunities that I've had. I hope they keep watching because I hope to keep surprising everyone, including myself.
