Q

Q.  What are some of the recent projects that you've been working on?

A.  I just finished two projects and I am about to start one which I can't really talk about just yet because it's not completely a done deal.  I did the movie Couples Retreat and another called The Bang Bang Club which was filmed in South Africa with Ryan Phillippe.  It's a true story about four photo journalists and their work during the end of the apartheid.  I did another one called HappyThankYouMorePlease which was shot in New York and it's a really great script.  I play a woman who has alopecia, which is basically when a woman has no hair on her body anywhere.  It's about her and her friends and all of their journeys in their search for love.

Q.  What can you tell us about the premise for Couples Retreat and about your character?

A.  Couples Retreat is about a group of friends, who are couples, where one of the couples is having marital issues.  They convince the other couples to go away with them to this beautiful resort where the couple in need is going to go through some therapy, but get told that the others will not have to participate.  The friends decide to come along to have some fun and support them and we realize that the package has mandatory therapy for everyone.  It's these regular people that come into these extraordinary situations that are just out of control.  Basically my character is married to Vince Vaughn in the film and our couple is pretty much the normal couple of the bunch who just have a pretty steady lifestyle with two kids.  We kind of figure out the thingsthat were missing in our life when we start this couples retreat.

Q.  What made you want to be a part of the film?

A.  A lot of things, for one the premise is great, it's a great story.  There is a great cast, you can't really say no to that cast with Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau.  Then the trip to Bora Bora... that was just the cherry on top for me.

Q.  Where did you draw from for your portrayal?

A.  I would say that my character is an every day woman who is trying to juggle life and her kids.  I don't have any kids but I am the oldest sister of four siblings so growing up I was the responsible one of all of the siblings.  Just basically it's relationships, just dealing with relationships, I am married and have a lot of experience with a husband and being married.  I think there is a little bit of my own life that comes in and the rest is imagination and the creation of a new person.

Q.  Is there anything about the role that you found challenging?

A.  The challenge with any role is to make it as real as possible and as believable as possible.  She's not an outrageous character or anything like that but I think the biggest one was keeping up with these big guns, Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau with making sure you're up to par with them and keep bringing your A game.  Any film you do you always have that challenge of making it believable.

Q.  Does comedic timing come naturally for you or have you had to work at it?

A.  I think it's definitely a bit of my own life, I had a bit of a crazy mother growing up.  I had a lot of embarrassing moments so I had to cover those up in the craziest ways.  It kind of came from an irregular upbringing.  I always loved to laugh and I grew up with a bunch of guys and being silly.  I think a lot of girls, if you grow up hanging out with other girls, then there is a lot of focus on hair and makeup and what's happening and what you're wearing and that makes people be less available to be vulnerable and to goof off and to not care. I think it just has a lot to do in the way you were formed by you're growing up.

Q.  How was working with director Peter Billingsley?

A.  He was great, he did a fantastic job.  He was super positive and he was always a pleasure to talk to and flesh things out with.  He and Vince worked really great together.  They worked together as producing partners for many, many years.  He did a really great job and it was so much fun and every now and then I would just think, "Oh my God, Ralphie from A Christmas Story is directing us!"  In general he was just a pleasure to work with, he was really amazing.

Q.  Did the chemistry with the cast come easily or did it take some time to develop?

A.  I think it came pretty easy, it's also nice for me to start my journey away from home.  When you are away from home you tend to sit and have dinner with your cast members and you spend more time together.  That way we really got to know each other quickly.  We were there on the island for three and a half weeks and then came back to LA and shot for another two months.  By the time we got back here we all knew each other pretty well, which is always a nice way to get the chemistry, and make it as real as possible on screen and off screen, which was really important for this because we all had to be such good friendsand I think that helped.

Q.  Why will people want to take the time to check out the film?

A.  Hopefully they are movie goers and they like a good comedy.  I always like to say that this is a little bit more of a grown up comedy.  It's a feel good movie, it really promotes relationships and marriage as opposed to coming down on it.  It's a feel good film, you walk out of it with a positive outlook on relationships, and with a smile on your face

Q.  You've done singing and acting, is there anything else you'd like to try your hand at?

A.  I did start my life out thinking I was going to become a child psychologist and it's something that I have never given up on.  I am slowly but surely getting involved with the school systems here in the States.  Eventually in the future I'd love to have my own school because I refuse to put my kids in private school because I think we should better our public schools.  That's a challenge I want to start working on, but not just yet, because I am a bit too busy with just kind of making my way in this business.  Once I feel established I can start putting my focus on that.

Q.  Do you have a latest obsession?  Are you into any particular sport, book, music group or activity?

A.  I don't have a big obsession, I'm a big foodie, that's been a life long obsession.  If there is any spare time I would love to go to a new restaurant and just enjoy new food and new tastes.  That's something that both my husband and I are very much into.  With him being Italian, we both enjoy food extensively.

Q.  What would you like to say to your fans and supporters?

A.  Thank you, please keep supporting!  Hopefully I'll be able to continue doing some good films!  Just a big thank you is all I want to say.
